What building Unbridled has taught me about growth, boundaries, and becoming a brand worth following.
By Kelli Keyzers, Unbridled Marketing & Media
One year ago, I said yes to something wild.
A business with no safety net. A name that hadn’t yet made noise.
Just me—one woman, one vision, and a whole lot of belief that there was a better way to do marketing and business.
Today, I’m celebrating that leap.
And not just because we made it.
Because we built something that’s already changing lives—mine included.
The Wins That Lit Me Up
If I had to name the thing I’m most proud of, it wouldn’t be a dollar figure.
It would be the foundation. The systems. The structure. The strategy. The freedom.
Unbridled has grown through word of mouth, trust, and results—not ads or gimmicks. Clients found us, stayed with us, and grew with us. They trusted me to build their brands from scratch, reimagine their identities, and infuse meaning into every visual, word, and pixel. And they didn’t just like the results—they were sort of blown away.
I’ve heard things like:
“This is award-worthy.”
“You thought of everything.”
“This finally looks and feels like me.”
“You nailed it.”
That’s what fuels me.
Every project we touched in Year One had a piece of my heart in it. And the feedback? The gratitude, the referrals, the loyal partnerships—it proved we’re not just creating marketing.
We’re creating moments, movement, and momentum.
The Lesson I Had to Learn the Hard Way
Let’s not sugarcoat it.
This year tested me.
Saying no is hard—especially when you’re wired to say yes, fix everything, and overdeliver. But I learned that not every opportunity is meant for me. Not every client is the right client. And not every hour I have belongs to my business.
I poured myself into a client relationship that looked good on paper but nearly broke me in real life.
What started as a 15–20 hour/week role quickly ballooned into 35+ hours—on just that client’s work. This wasn’t just scope creep, it was hijacking my workflow.
Suddenly, my world was turned upside-down. My other client work had to be pushed to late nights and long weekends. Brutal. Unsustainable.
Groceries didn’t get bought. I didn’t leave my house for a month. I hit burnout. Full stop.
Ending that contract was terrifying… and necessary.
It taught me about boundaries. About my worth. About how even a perfectionist has to protect her peace.
Because I didn’t start this business to be buried by it.
I started it to build something unshakably mine.
This Is More Than Marketing
If you’ve worked with me, you know—Unbridled isn’t just a service.
It’s a partnership.
It’s your brand, your story, your business… and me stepping into it like it’s my own (in a good way, not a creepy way…promise).
I don’t cut corners. I can’t. It’s not in me.
Every brand I touch becomes something I believe in deeply.
And every client I partner with becomes someone I root for, fiercely.
This isn’t about churning out content.
It’s about building something worth being proud of.
This Business Is Personal
I started Unbridled for freedom.
For the chance to create without limitation.
To work hard for people who see what I bring and trust me to bring it to life.
But it’s also become something deeply personal.
My son, Hayden, has seen it all.
He’s watched me work late. He’s seen the stress and the long hours.
He’s also told me—when I least expected it—that he’s proud of me.
That he wants me to mentor his business class.
That he wants to learn from me.
And if that’s not legacy—I don’t know what is.
My partner in life and in business, Jay, has been a rock through it all.
Together, we’ve created commercials, graphics, videos, soundtracks, photos—stories.
He’s not just part of this chapter. He is the chapter. His creativity, patience, and belief in me have made Unbridled better. And, his work…it’s downright EXCEPTIONAL. Any client who gets to benefit from his output and creativity is touched by a wicked good talent! He stops at nothing to go extra and deliver beyond what client’s could imagine. Unbridled, and myself, are lucky to have him.
This work—this life—is something I’d love Hayden to be part of someday.
If he chooses to take it on, I want him to see that entrepreneurship can be joyful, human, bold, and free.
So, What’s Next?
Year Two is about refinement. Focus. Elevation.
Not more of everything—just more of the right things.
I want to work with clients who get it.
Who see me not as a vendor, but as a strategic partner.
Who trust the process and know that when we’re having fun, that’s when the magic happens.
Marketing doesn’t have to be chaotic.
It should be brave. It should be sharp. It should move people.
And it should make you feel something.
To Every Client Who’s Trusted Me
